A Centuries-Old Tradition
The earliest traces of the Nice Carnival date back to the Middle Ages. At the time, it was a moment of popular celebration held before Lent. Over the centuries, the tradition has evolved into a major cultural event, blending satire, visual arts, music and spectacular parades. While its forms have changed, the spirit remains the same: to celebrate, bring people together and offer a joyful, creative spectacle accessible to all.

A Celebration of Femininity
From February 11 to March 1, 2026, the Nice Carnival returns with a powerful new theme: “Long Live the Queen.”
This edition will pay tribute to the female figure through striking visual worlds, bold artistic creations and spectacular floats, symbols of creativity, elegance and freedom.
For nearly three weeks, the city will pulse to the rhythm of:
-
colorful daytime carnival parades
-
nighttime parades, true illuminated spectacles
-
numerous cultural events and animations throughout the city
A rich program that makes the Carnival an unmissable highlight of the Riviera winter.

The Night Parade: A Carnival Highlight
As night falls, the Carnival reveals an entirely different dimension. Illuminated floats glide through the streets in a magical atmosphere, enhanced by music and light effects. The night parade is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular moments of the event, offering total immersion into the Carnival’s universe and an experience not to be missed.
